In the National Park of the East, live 112 different species of birds (some endemic to the Caribbean and the country), manatees (an endangered species) and sea turtles. The vegetation consists of dense mangroves (attention to the bites of black flies). Almost all tourists who visit this park make it during the excursion to Isla Saona or Isla Catalina, two uninhabited islands that form part of the natural park, whose main attraction is the paradisiacal virgin beaches. In addition, nearby there are small markets where you can buy some souvenirs and areas with hammocks and stands to have a snack on the beach.
